Apple Boxes
Apple boxes are some of the most useful and helpful tools in the studio/production environment. From leveling the grade under camera dolly track while shooting locally or at a remote location, to leveling and stabilizing lighting stands, to bringing the talent 'in frame' during a romantic scene, to boosting the child in the photography studio, and not to forget being a quick seat for your favorite DP's, grips, and studio personnel - apple boxes are used for almost everything.
We have been building the highest quality apple boxes for over 40 years. In the early days, we figured out an optimal selection of characteristics to use for our apple box designs, and kept on improving them to what they are today. Our products are also all still made in the USA!
In 2005, were the first to add 'comfort with precision'. We honestly believe that the person working hard, and scrambling for gear in the field, deserves not only an apple box that holds up, but one that is comfortable to hold. When you use and handle one of our apple boxes, you will definitely feel the difference!
We continue to raise the expectation level on our already proven products. We have tested several different types of materials, then standardized on the ones we use to build our apple boxes, then specificied, field tested, and adjusted different types of adhesive and fastener strategies that bring the classical balance of weight and performance.
We have competitors that 'short change' the end user in order to cut cost, by minimizing the types, sizes, and grades of materials for construction. When you compare units made from 1/2" material as compared to units from 3/4" material - the math is simple: there is one third less glue bonding area on a 1/2" frame than one made from 3/4". Using a thin plywood with a cheap, spongy core: why would you risk expensive motion picture camera and dolly rigs to roll across apple boxes only using 'brad nails' to hold them together? Also, make sure while you are comparing our units to others that all have a center support members inside.
